Axle Nut Removal

The axle nut can be difficult to remove sometimes and the trick is mostly brute force but there are some tricks to make it easier.

Typically this is difficult because most likely you have removed the wheels already to gain access to it because there is a cap over it. If you don't have a cap over it you will likely have a lot more trouble getting these parts off.

• Engage the 4x4 in the XJ transfer case. This can prevent the hub from turning while trying to crack the bolt.
• Place a socket between the axle shaft and the axle 'C' like this:
